As introduced, Bill 26-124 would prohibit an electric or gas company from disconnecting residential electric or gas service for protected households during the summer and winter months. It would establish a program under the Department of Energy and the Environment and also require the establishment of guidelines for payment plans for all eligible customers. It requires that an electric or gas company report arrearage and disconnection data to the Public Service Commission on a monthly basis.
